Congratulations to ECAN (Christchurch Regional Council) and the milestone of 1 million contactless payment ‘taps’ across the Greater Christchurch Region, and 200,000 unique cards and devices in use across the network.

Motu Move is the new contactless ticketing and payment system that is giving travellers easy ways to pay for public transport without having to use a travel card.
Our team have been working with the National Ticketing System (NTS) project team at ECAN to get this project delivered.
It’s been a highly visible project, as Motu Move is being implemented across New Zealand by the end of 2027 and ECAN is the first Transport Authority to roll this out.
Congratulations team. And a nice first for Christchurch which we’re proud to play a part in.
